Economic Recovery Gathering
"Building a Solid Foundation"
Focus: How to Build a Lands Office
Dates: December 4-6, 2023
Location: Grey Eagle Resort & Casino - Calgary, AB
We invite you to join us for the 2nd Economic Recovery Gathering Session 2023-24 hosted from December 4th to 6th, 2023 at the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino.
Day 1 will consist of our membership meeting that will include elections for board positions, updates on current projects, a presentation from Indigenous Services Canada and a chance for members to network and share ideas. In the afternoon we will be visiting the Tsuut’ina Culture Museum for a Guided tour and classroom teachings.
On day 2 & 3, the National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association (NALMA) will provide training on “How to Build a First Nation’s Lands Department” training workshop which is intended to provide participants with a greater insight into the resources and tools that build an efficient and effective First Nation land management office. It offers a holistic approach to better understand the fundamental concepts of what is required, why, and how to use it competently.
Join us as we dive deeper into how First Nations can effectively manage their land resources and create sustainable economic development opportunities for their communities.
We recognize that effective land management is a complex process and requires collaboration between various stakeholders. We therefore encourage participation from not only First Nation Lands Managers across Alberta but also from Economic Development Officers, Consultation, industry experts, and other organizations interested in First Nations land management.
